"My goal in life is to be
as good a person as my dog already thinks I am".
 Carl Porter,
Professional Trainer |
Carl Porter started out as and is first of all a bird hunter. As a "Hunting
Dog Trainer" he understands what a foot hunting bird hunter wants and needs from
his bird dog. An obedient well trained dog that handles easily, points birds,
holds birds and retrieves to hand. He trains all pointing and flushing breeds
for the devoted outdoorsman. When your dog is finished it will respond to
whistle and verbal commands, be controllable in and out of the field, be steady
to wing and shot and retrieve to hand. He trains personal Hunting Dogs full time
on site and also competes young Field Trial prospects on a local level.
 Carl training
a young foot hunting dog |
Carl starts 4-6 month old puppies for initial developing in our "Head Start Program", all the way to finishing your hunting dog steady to "Wing and Shot". He requires that all owners or handlers of the dog be an active participant in the training before you go home with your new Hunting Partner so the
exchange is smooth and
successful. All commands will be taught to the dog and the handler alike to insure a first-class
pleasurable hunting experience. Then when you begin hunting together you and your dog will be hunting as a team.

Field Trial Trainer/Handler |
Carl started handling professionally trained field trial dogs
in 1996 and competed as an avid Amateur Field Trial handler at the local, Regional, and
National Field Trial levels before turning pro. He now trains and handles field
trial dogs he started on the local AKC level during the winter an spring months while most
of the hunting dogs he trained are being hunted on wild birds during the hunting
season. Carl started out as Eldon
Hongo's assistant trainer and was under his personal training from 1996 to 2002.
He is now training and handling his own string of Field
Trial Dogs on the west coast throughout the trial season.
"If all the beasts were gone, men would die
from a great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also
happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls
the sons of the Earth."
