"Casey" wins OGD and finishes his Field Championship

Casey, won the Open Gun Dog stake at the German Shorthair Pointer Club of California in a 20 dog retrieving stake. He ran in the 3rd brace with more distractions than any dog I have run in a long time. With a premier scouting job by Lynn Merrell, Casey had 3 finds, a smooth front running race, easy handle and rock solid, I mean ROCK SOLID bird work. Between sending the dog to retrieve a bird that wasn't killed that he knew better than to do, a bulldozer flushing job and birds that wouldn't fly after 3 attempts to get it off the ground, Casey stood through all that with ease and patience to everyone's surprise. He did a superb job along with fine scouting to find him to the front each time and won, hands down according to the judge Lou Tonelli. This win finishes him for his Field Championship and owners Bob and Sandra Deitering were very pleased to hear he is finished. He is a fine dog and deserves this title without question. He has placed and won numerous times this season in Open and Amateur stakes and now is working on 1 point to finish him both ways. Good Luck Casey.
