Bo the "Pheasant Slayer" & Kaycie

Bo and I had an excellent pheasant season opener. As you can see in the pictures, my brother and I got 3 of 5 roosters opening morning. Bo was pointing and retrieving like a pro. When a hen would flush, he stopped to watch and gave no chase and then went back on to hunting. He was a little hyper for the first field but then calmed right down. He pointed about 6 birds in all and Jake pointed about 4. Kaycie pushed up two birds out of range, she did point them but would not hold the point long enough for me to get to her, that’s hunting.

Bo had this one point at the end of the field and it was a rooster when it got up. I took one shot and my friend took 3 shots at it and hit it but not hard. I watched it fly across the field as it was heading to Mexico but it landed on the US side of the All American Cannel. As Bo and I went to give chase, a guy fishing and hunting on the cannel saw the bird land and was trying to go get it for himself. When I got to the point where the bird landed, he said that it ran into the brush on the edge of the water and he could not find it. I sent Bo down to the east of where that guy was looking and sure enough he pointed again. As we got to the brush, the bird went into the water and was trying to swim to Mexico, I released him from point and he jumped into the water and did a water retrieve for me. It was awesome!!
